Boil Water Notification
May 29, 2015
Due to low chlorine residuals in the water system, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required the system to notify members affected to boil their water prior to consumption.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, water system officials will notify you.
Please keep in mind that the water has been treated by the City of Gordon prior to entering BWSC’s distribution system. Due to damage caused by a lightning strike, the systems operating pressure dropped below 35 psi, the minimum acceptable pressure per TCEQ regulations. The problem has been resolved however this procedure has been put in place to ensure the health and safety of BWSC customers.
